Autel IM608 & IM508 Update: BMW G Series BDC2 Add Key Function
On February 19, 2025, Autel released a new feature for BMW G-Series models, allowing key addition for BDC2 modules. This update applies to IM508, IM608, and OTOFIX IM1/IM2 devices.
Key Features of the Update:
✅ Supports “Add Key” for BMW G-Chassis and late-model F-Chassis vehicles.
✅ Requires Autel G-Box 2 or G-Box 3 for programming.
✅ Compatible with Autel IKEY BMW-Style Smart Keys (3-button & 4-button).
✅ 1-year software subscription ($990) or per-session purchase ($120).
✅ Internet connection and active subscription required.
✅ Bench EEPROM job only – No OBD support.

When the update notification appears on your Autel IM608 or IM508, you can:
1️⃣ Purchase the license directly from the tablet.
2️⃣ Buy the IMMO1YRUP 1-year software card from an authorized reseller.

Important Notes on BDC2 Key Programming
🔸 No OBD support – Only bench EEPROM programming.
🔸 Must pay per VIN or purchase an annual subscription.
🔸 Before preprocessing the ECU, you must complete payment upfront.
🔸 OTOFIX IM1/IM2 also supports BMW BDC2 key addition.
How to Add BMW BDC2 Key with Autel IM508/IM608 on Bench?
1️⃣ Connect the Autel IM608/IM508 to the Autel G-Box 2/3.
2️⃣ Use the bench wiring setup for the BDC2 module.
3️⃣ Preprocess the ECU (payment required if no annual subscription).
4️⃣ Generate a smart universal key.
5️⃣ Write the new key data to the BDC2 module.
6️⃣ Test the key functionality.
This update expands Autel’s BMW key programming capabilities, making it easier to add smart keys for G-Series models. However, the extra costs and bench-only process may be a drawback for some users.
